Shanghai Electro-Mechanical Engineering Institute (SEMEI) was established in January 1978 and serves as one of the most important aerospace system design research institutes in China. It primarily undertakes the cutting-edge development research, key technology research, system design, system integration, system test and verification, system delivery and after-sales service of aerospace vehicles. It also possesses a first-class level in China in the professional fields of system design, aerocraft design, System of Systems (SoS) and system simulation, navigation guidance and control, structural mechanics analysis, reliability analysis, and electronic measurement and control. After four decades development, the SEMEI has advantages in cross-domain/heterogeneous SoS countermeasure joint simulation, MBSE-based aerocraft system design, mixed virtual and physical system parallel simulation for both indoor and outdoor fields, and hardware-in-the-loop simulation of guidance and control systems. It has established system test centers and ranges for SoS simulation, guidance and control system simulation, system anti-jamming simulation etc. There are currently more than 1000 employees, over 800 with master degrees or above, more than 450 senior designers in the institute. The SEMEI also has the capability to cultivate master degree candidates and postdoctoral researchers in the first-level disciplines.
